Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava is maintaining its momentum at the box office, defying expectations and industry trends. The Maddock Films production has demonstrated sustained success, nearing the Rs 500 crore milestone domestically after 20 days in theaters.

Despite initial skepticism about the viability of historical films, Chhaava has drawn significant audience interest, translating into consistent box office figures. With no major releases posing competition, the film’s upward trajectory remains intact, and analysts anticipate it will surpass the Rs 500 crore mark by the weekend.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Chhaava added Rs 5.5 crore on Tuesday, bringing its domestic total to Rs 472 crore. The film has delivered exceptional third-weekend numbers, earning Rs 60.10 crore, surpassing Pushpa 2 (Hindi) at Rs 60 crore, Stree 2 at Rs 48.75 crore, and Baahubali 2, which stood at Rs 42.55 crore during its third-weekend run.

Chhaava has also secured a spot among India’s all-time highest-grossing films. The film’s lifetime earnings have now overtaken Dangal and Sanju, making it one of the most successful Indian films ever. In the all-time Hindi box office rankings, Chhaava currently holds the eighth position, trailing Animal, When excluding non-Hindi original releases like Baahubali 2 and Pushpa 2: The Rule, the film ranks as the sixth-highest Hindi-language grosser.

A key factor in the film’s success has been Vicky Kaushal’s lead performance, backed by a strong ensemble cast featuring Diana Penty, Neil Bhoopalam, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta. Released globally on February 14, 2025, the film was initially set to compete with Pushpa 2 before the release was strategically adjusted.
